Everything was a lot more simpler when I first begun playing FPS Games. You waited for the next chapter Quake to come out and run to the shops to purchase it. Nowadays times have changed with so many big releases hitting the shelves month after month the decisions are never ending. But whats the point in paying for a game when you can just get 1 for nothing? Here’s three reasons why you would never want to pay!

First: Try before you… Erg?

On how many occasions have you ventured out and bought a game, toyed with it for a while and never used it again? Speaking for myself here I can truely say I have done this more times than I would like to remember or would want to since it would just make me brake down in tears thinking of the cash I have lost! The best thing for me with f2p is that the only thing you would be wasting is time and some HD space while you choose should I or shouldn’t I keep using it.

Gone are the times where £40 game becomes nothing more than a new coffee mat or new toy for the dog! Say good bye to the days of pulling yourself out of bed at the crack of dawn on release day to get yourself down to the shop in time to grab a copy. Just enter your details. Second: You pay for quality right?

Urban Myth! During my time with these free fps games the quality has always been Excellent. I would even say there right up there with the paid games! The graphics are awesome, pushing the boundaries with other top paid games. 1 example to point out would be Global Agenda. This game has been built with the same graphics engine that runs Quake (Unreal 3D engine 3) and is also a lot of fun to! Quake costs? Global Agenda costs a little HD space!

The level of the servers is also another thing to point out. I have lost score how many occasions I have had to leave a server in Call of Duty due to it being badly taken over with lag. A player jumping from one end of screen to the other and I’m not alone either, just scanning over the built in chat you can see its affecting all. Recently I have been playing a free game named Combat in Arms. Within this free fps game I can honestly say lag has never made me break down and cry. There are times it happens but for the most part I am happy in the fact that the game runs like a hot knife through butter, even when playing it on my laptop.

Third: Paid has all the content!

Do paid games have more content? Or at least you would imagine so since you are loosing money for it. I’ll admit now paid games do have a lot more single player content than a free fps game. The free shooters tend to focus solely on multiplayer PvP aspect of FPS.

But is there content as rich as a paid game?
Definitely and even more so. Just for an example for you, there is a free FPS game titled Operation 7 and has over 17 different maps and 5 different gaming modes to choose from and has new versions coming out constantly. MMOFPS’s such as Combat in Arms have a intense 300+ armoury of weapons to choose from. Yes some of these do involve micro-transactions but they got to get their money somewhere right?

Bottom line is free fps games are just as good if not better than the paid versions just for the above 3 reasons.
